A weekend trip was much needed in my life because of all of the final papers and projects that the end of November held for me, so I went to Munich with my friends, Jill and Maddie!

Friday, November 29th

After a day full of classes, we all headed to the airport to catch our plane to Germany!

Once we landed in Munich, we made our way to our Airbnb, which was an apartment 5 minutes away from Marienplatz! Marienplatz is the location of the most popular Christmas market in Munich and it is surrounded by gorgeous buildings!

We quickly left the Airbnb to find dinner, as we were all starving after traveling.

After many full restaurants, we found a place called Ratskeller München Marienplatz! Ratskellers are common forms of restaurants in Germany and they’re basically restaurants in basements.

After dinner, we ended up wandering around the city for a while and then made our way back to the Airbnb to watch a Christmas movie!

Saturday, November 30th

To start our day, we headed to a cafe called Emmi’s Kitchen, which was SO cute. It’s a little vegan place with cute decor, friendly staff and INCREDIBLE food!

After a super yummy breakfast, we headed to a Christmas market that was right outside of our Airbnb. There, we bought some fresh fruit and eggs for breakfast the next morning and and enjoyed all of the Christmas festivities!

After the neighborhood Christmas market, we went to Saint Peter’s Church, which is the most famous church in Munich! It was breathtaking. We went inside the church and also climbed up to the top of the tower and got incredible view of the city.

Afterwards, we went back to the Christmas market to find some traditional German food for lunch!

After lunch, we headed back to the Airbnb to catch a quick nap before the rest of the day!

After our time at home, we went to Marienplatz to enjoy the Christmas market and reunite with some old friends.

Glüwein is a mulled and spiced wine that is really common during the holidays! You can find it on every corner.

Remember when Jill and I went to Oslo in September and met two girls from Munich? Well, we got to hang out with them at the market and catch up!

Also had to get a shot of the three of us!

After the market, the girls walked us to our restaurant where we had our dinner reservation and we said “see you later”!

For dinner, we went to a place called Zum Dürnbräu, which was a cozy traditional Bavarian restaurant.

After dinner, we explored the city more and enjoyed time together! That was the end of our night:)

Sunday, December 1st

After a wonderful home-cooked breakfast at the Airbnb, we embarked upon our journey for the day.

As we had a flight later in the day, we only had the morning to explore, so we made the most of our time.

We made our way to the Munich Residence, which is a big and beautiful building in the English Gardens. We hung around there for a while, taking pictures and enjoying each others company.

After that, we went to the Haus der Kunst Museum, which is a lovely art museum outside of the gardens. The main exhibition at the time was a collection of Markus Lüpertz’s work and it included sculptures and paintings alike.

Once we were finished with the museum, we found ANOTHER Christmas market, which, this time, was medieval-themed. We wandered, bought some souvenirs and then headed back to our end of town.

After grabbing some lunch, we went to the Airbnb, packed our bags and headed off to the airport, ending our wonderful weekend.

Munich was beautiful, enchanting and so much fun! It was so great getting to travel again with Jill and for the first time with Maddie, as we are all pretty like-minded and enjoyed our time immensely!
